It was unusually warm and very rainy today. Thankfully, it’s gone from -30 degrees to the mid-+20’s. Our translator said in his native language and with hand gestures, that the rain was the sky crying for Joe’s leaving. It was very sweet, and I had to work hard to keep back my own tears. We all seemed to be grieving the shift of Joe leaving. The caregivers asked about him and even our baby seemed to be a little out of sorts. But, we still enjoyed music and holding and playing. I reassured her that we’ll all be together soon, hopefully by the end of next month.
Other time was spent purchasing local baby supplies, and emailing our US docs and other mom who previously adopted from this city. She’s been quite the lifesaver with helpful tips about the baby house, and how to transition our baby when she is with me here. With the upcoming New Year’s celebration, it was fun to pick out cakes and champagne for the baby house and hotel staff. I practiced how to say “Happy New Year” in this native language and our driver practiced the English version.
Dear Wendy:
ReplyDeleteI love the blog...the words....but mostly the smile on your face as you adoringly look at your little lady. You are all so lucky....baby/mommy/daddy....what more could anyone wish for as the year 2009 ends. Your mother would have been thrilled...probably is thrilled as we speak!
Congratulations on your tenacity and love!
Take good care of yourself....and your new little family!
Love, Pam
